Welcome to My Digital Notebook

This is how it starts

Here’s the thing about writing; there are a lot of tips on the how-to.

Tips on how to structure your day around writing (Tackle it first-thing in the morning! Do a little every day!);

Tips on becoming a writer (Set aside a creative space! Write down everything you hear and see! Carry your notebook everywhere!);

And tips on navigating the publishing world in this digital era (Establish yourself as a writer first! Prepare your query letter before your book! Start up your social presence to find success!).

I find writing tips on Pinterest, recall quotes from one of the Greats, not to mention the books, articles, more books, more articles. In other words, I find far too many tips; all of which serve as distractions.

I can spend hours writing original work, read all the tips I can, even start off every morning with a writing exercise, but all of this puts off the final step. The most important step. The step I haven’t taken.

Sharing my writing.

I can hole up on a chair, in front of my laptop all day, but if my intent is to create a story that connects with someone, draws someone in, immerses them in my world for that moment, then I need to share my stories.

And I need a reader.

So welcome to the first place I’m proudly sharing my own writing, and thank you for reading.
